Dreams
Take what is simple,
grind yourself in the idea of work.
This I know…
Dreams don’t come to frightful minds.
Dreams don’t come to worn hands.
Dreams require stillness, acceptance,
Acceptance to let be.

Musings
Buried
only secret
for being forgotten,
lost…
or tossed away
found again,
treasured?
Musings
A connection, if slight
the love of food
the self deprecation
shared fears
talk of change
a baseline to understand the world
Musings
Black swan
White mask
reflecting me.
haunting lights
press to distract
you’ll never be.
Musings
Do we even see the world?
Bound to lines, the IV drip of highway lights.
The space between, where magic dwells.
Sacred hollows, riven crests.
Swallowed whole, on silent breadth.
Musings
Wind
cooling heads
longing shadows.
Call to rest
those who burdens heavy carry.
Rest thy head
Close they eyes
away the binds that weight
breath easy on the current.
Relief is found in thy embrace.
Musings
The dynamics of tension
The inequality of life
The fight for recognition
The view of humanity
The diversification of inclusion
The angst of self-doubt
The bewitchment of normalcy
The fear of Knowing
How easy it is to walk a path well trodden to hardship and death.
How difficult to walk a path untraveled, unknown.
Musings
Be child like – not in the aspect of no thought to consequences, others, tomorrow. But that you see here and now. How many moments have slipped away without notice?
– too many.
Musings
A wall of windows, tree tops and clouds
caged and surrounded, by people
broken silence, hum of technology
No call of the birds
only shuffle of feet
Silence broken by convenience
to acclimate to machines
Forget me not, leave me not
the world is at your fingertips
No world beyond the glass and stone,
the iron and copper
this box,
my cage.
Musings
Burning, dancing, lingering,
Paths flaring, errant sparks
falling stars
Musings
What’s your Name?
Matthew, Matthew Denton
and the Middle?
Nah it never really fit.
John
Given with love for my grandfather.
Steady a presence that was in the room but not known.
I’ve never claimed it.

Months ago I spent a solid 3 weeks writing daily on a small story with many twists. Along the way I seemed to get lost. It’s about time I reset and get a routine in place that really allows for exploration and incorporates writing times that work for me and not just the last hour of the day.
Wish me luck as I start with listening to some Writing Excuses podcasts and get back into the swing of things.
